I
am Chief Tom “Two Birds” Boyette.
When called upon, I was honored to be
offered the position of Florida clan
chief and proudly accepted the
responsibilities as the Clan Chief of
the Florida Clan for The United
Cherokee Nation (UCN).
We
here in Florida have had a few
difficulties in our recent past, I
feel led to step up and assist my Tsalagi
(Cherokee) brothers and sisters here
in Florida by helping us to come
together as more than we have been
and to become an active productive
clan of Tsalagi people with the like
goal and purpose of “THE
GATHERING”
for all lost Tsalagi in our area.
To do this we may need assistance from
the other Tsalagi clans or tribes, I
have been assured this assistance will
be forthcoming.
One
of the major projects I would like us
here in Florida to see through is to
found a Tsalagi Warriors Dance
Society, a dance group that will
foster interest in our great Nations
culture and its rich heritage. Along
with this it would seem a logical
progression to move on to genealogy
and perhaps DNA sampling. Our
GATHERING's have gone lacking in the
past, I would like our tribe or clan
to better prepare and participate in
our clans gatherings, thus attracting
more lost Tsalagi.
I
whole heartedly believe in our Nation,
or tribe, or clan, and its leaders. As
part of this group I will be available
to the people and assist them in
becoming a strong clan of Tsalagi
people who will be proud of their
heritage and culture, this we can
achieve via education, gatherings,
meetings, web-sites, e-mail
newsletters, interaction within or
with other tribes and or clans and by
fostering the growth of our nation by
welcoming others with us into a
greater whole which is forthcoming.
